Masthead Island, part of the Capricornia Cays National Park, is a magnificent 45 hectare coral cay preserving the Great Barrier Reef eco system. It is situated approximately 60 kilometres north-east of Gladstone and named in 1802 by explorer Matthew Flinders.
With an emphasis on marine activity and boasting one of the highest boat ownerships of any community in Australia, it should come as no surprise that the Gladstone Marina is a modern complex for yachting and boating activity, as well as a lovely location to enjoy Gladstone's waterfront.
Gladstone's Tondoon Botanic Gardens are home to more than 1500 species of plants from the Port Curtis Region and far North Queensland. The gardens are set upon an 83 hectare site with a wide variety of flora and fauna.
